Many of my fellow Mass Effect cosplayer friends have made "formal” versions of their costumes, including Amelia (@makermage) who made Femshep’s N7 dress from ME3. I have always liked the purple dress Liara wears to Shepard’s cabin at the end of the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC, so I decided to make it for PAX East 2024! Amelia and I got the chance to get together for a little Citadel shore leave photoshoot at the con. I also took the opportunity to pick up a space hamster from the Sanshee booth, so I just had to include him in the shoot!
I originally started the costume in 2023 to wear to that year’s PAX, but I didn’t end up going and paused the project for the next year. Fun fact: I started and finished the costume almost exactly one year apart! This was ultimately a quick project, though, amounting to about a week’s worth of work.
I got super lucky with the fabrics for this dress, as I found the perfect pink-purple duochrome vinyl for the main body. My favorite piece is the gloves; I had fun airbrushing the black gradient and they fit perfectly! I'm also excited at how well my faux blue hands worked out, which are just sheer blue nylon gloves with fake nails glued on. Special thanks to my amazing friend and fellow cosplayer Lizhen for her patterns. I barely had to make any alterations due to her incredible skills!
